I took a few one-shot samples from a bunch of free packs i downloaded off the net (legally), i gave the kick some subtle crunchy distortion in the high end whilst trying to retain it's core sound and it's punch, i altered the transients and the pitch of the samples to make them pop more and sound more to the point and i placed a coloring compressor on the master to give it a bit more overal volume raise without causing it to clip in a bad way.

Big storm hit my house, and i recorded it from just behind a window. Recorded in stereo at 24 bit with a sony pcm m-10 with furry windshield. In an antique store in laconner, washington i saw a old black desk rotary dial telephone. I dialed the numbers 1 through 0 and recorded them on my cell phone. It's a fairly clear recording and different from the other rotary dial sounds here. I rolled off the low end a bit to get rid of some ambient noise in the store.

A collection of sounds of a magazine flipping through its pages and a heavy book slamming shut. Recorded using a blue yeti microphone at 16-bit 44100hz in audacity. Used audacity's noise removal filter to to remove background noise. For this file, i isolated the samples i liked and left a small gap of silence between them for separation later. Attribution appreciated but not required.

I think this sounds a bit like a jazz age theme reflecting a journey by steam ship. It was bolted together from little loopable sections (also uploaded separately here) which were all created using edirol orchestral samples and the magic of arpeggiating programs. Fireworks- recording fireworks is really strange. There are two distinct things going on with fireworks- the sound of the explosion, and the powerful physical impact our bodies feel when all that sound energy reaches us. Thing is, the mics don’t have any way of capturing that physical impact; they can only record the pop sound of the initial explosion. So what ends up on tape? honestly, it doesn’t sound much different than popping popcorn in your kitchen. Even with my good mics, i think i had to boost the low end a little bit in this recording to make it actually sound more like fireworks than popcorn. But judge for yourself. 24 bit 48krecorded on a zaxcom nova with 3x mics mixed to stereo-2x sennheiser mkh-50 in x/y-1x dpa 4017 centerbirds recorded in my back yard early spring. Walked out to take kids to school and was it with a wall of sound. When i came back they were still there so i had to record it.

Another very old production, i think this one's from around 2009 even!. Using the reverb of a chord i made on my guitar i created a drone-y, washed out sound. Added some subtle bitcrushed drums, cymbals and a vst synthesizer plays some notes to fill it out a bit, and a dark brooding bass-like instrument pulls up near the end of the track.

Springtime thunderstorm recorded using a shotgun mic pointing out of a window. Mono recording but with a bit of stereo artificial reverb added. This longer recording features some distant sounds heard within a housing estate - distant chatter, cars, children. Recorded during the covid-19 lockdown.

It's a recording of wooden door in an old village house getting closed rapidly. There is some overhead silence in this recording to allow making a smooth transision for this sample (fade-in and fade-out), because there is some background noise and little sound of me moving around. Recorded with a zoom h2 at 48khz/24-bit, edited, nomalized and converted to flac using audacity.

This was recorded on july 4th, 2013 in enumclaw, wa. I was not expecting the bomber to fly over and it was a tribute to one of the last surviving members (edward saylor) of the doolittle raid on tokyo on april 18th, 1942. He was in the parade too. I can just imagine the sound of hundreds flying over in ww2. There is a bit of distortion as the plane flew directly overhead. Please comment on what you will use it for. :^).

Used audition's noise removal tools to minimize audible background noise. While no others effects have been added, i would recommend using a hard limiter of around 10-20db for a fuller sounding bell. Recording of a courtyard garden fountain in the abbey gardens in bury st edmunds, suffolk. Recorded early on a sunday morning to minimalism unwanted sounds of people!. This particular recording was taken a bit further back from the fountains to try and achieve a more ambient sound, capturing bird song, light winds, distant traffic and park keeper activity.

Another night of hearing that couple next door. You can hear some of the conversations they have, but not really clear in some parts. Note that some parts of their conversations are cut out, but the dirty sounding conversation they have will be kept in. Around 2:50, is the sound of a door shut, that's when they're about to. . . Around 6:20 is when there will be bits of sex noises. Passed 8:25 is when you'll hear the woman start to get loud. Passed 11:00 is when they finished their you know. This is edit and cut short with audacity.

I wanted to find a good creative commons 0 sound effect of fingernails scratching on a wooden surface but i could find the exact thing i was looking for. So i recorded myself scratching my bedroom door with my fingernails using a recording app on my phone and edited it in audacity to remove breathing sounds, and to make the sound feel more heavy/deep, including some very faint reverb. Since i really wanted this i thought it might be useful for someone else! i hope someone else out there like me finds this somewhat useful. Theres a bit of a clicking noise at the end - i think from the recording process.

Ocean waves recorded from between two rocks. Recorded on a zoom h4 with the mics covered in zeppelin fur at 44100 hz 24-bit. There's some slight wind noise that can be filtered from 150hz downward. This is part of a series of recordings for an ambient music project i'm working on. There are some excellent ocean recordings on freesound if you're looking for a more traditional ocean sound, but my intent with these clips was to try to capture some natural phase-shifting by placing the h4 in cracks and crevices for a more hollow, "closed-in" sound.
